January to April (The Dry Season Peak): The rivers are crystal clear, the water flow is consistent, and the trees are dropping seeds and flowers. This is when the “Jungle Piranha” is most aggressive on the surface.
August to December (The Green Season): The fishing returns with a bang. The afternoon rains wash insects and fresh treats into the water, triggering massive feeding frenzies. The rapids are exciting, and the forest is at its most vibrant.
Why not May, June, or July? During these transitional months, the first heavy rains of the season can turn the rivers “chocolate” (muddy) and cause unpredictable rises in the rapids. For your safety and to ensure the water is clear enough for fly fishing, we avoid these months. We only take you out when the conditions are perfect for hunting the Machacas.
